Zidane tells Ramos where to play next year amid €30m Man Utd links
Zinedine Zidane has told Sergio Ramos that he should stay at Real Madrid, amid talk of a move away.
Ramos has been tipped to bring an end to his 14-year spell with Madrid this summer, having fallen out with club president Florentino Perez following their Champions League exit to Ajax. The Spain centre-back has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United, although recent reports indicate that a move to the former will definitely not be happening.
The defender is certainly not wanted by Liverpool fans, who accused him of deliberately injuring Mohamed Salah in last year’s Champions League final. And a report from the Daily Mirror revealed that the club have no interest in signing the former World Cup winner.
“There is 0.0 per cent chance of Sergio Ramos playing for Liverpool,” the Mirror‘s source said. “It has nothing to do with what happened in Kiev last season. Even if we had won the Champions League final and Ramos had shook the hand of every Liverpool player afterwards we would still have no interest in him.
“Ramos just doesn’t fit the kind of profile that Jurgen Klopp is looking for. We wouldn’t even sign him if he was available on a free.”
Now, Marca say that Madrid boss Zidane has instructed the 33-year-old to stay at the Bernabeu, rather than pursue a move to United, Juventus or China, with two years still left to run on his contract.
The pair met at the end of the season, holding a lengthy discussion in which Zidane is claimed to have reminded Ramos how important he regards him both on and off the pitch. The French coach is believed to be confident of the former Sevilla man staying.
