Manchester United will make a ‘huge’ proposal for an impressive midfielder this summer at Erik ten Hag’s request, an Arsenal attacker is poised to reject the likes of Everton and West Ham, while Tuesday’s Transfer Gossip reveals how a Newcastle deal is under threat due to a serious injury.

MAN UTD GO BACK IN FOR SERIE A PLAYER

Ten Hag has instructed Man Utd to chase the signature of Adrien Rabiot once again and a ‘huge’ contract offer could be presented to him, according to a report.

Man Utd tried to sign Rabiot to bolster their midfield ranks in summer 2022. However, the Frenchman ended up staying at Juventus as the Red Devils did not meet his contract demands.

Instead, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro were the two midfielders who ended up arriving at Old Trafford. Eriksen and Casemiro have both been brilliant for the most part, although the former is currently out with an ankle injury.

Ten Hag replaced Eriksen with Marcel Sabitzer in the January window, as he arrived on loan from Bayern Munich until the end of the season.

But it is unclear if Sabitzer’s move will be made permanent, while Ten Hag is also known to want an extra midfielder in his ranks.

Due to these factors, Football Insider state Man Utd are preparing to go back in for Rabiot this summer. They should be able to capture him on a free transfer as his Juve contract expires in June.

Ten Hag has learned from his previous failure when pursuing Rabiot last year. He knows a major contract offer must be put on the table to lure the 27-year-old to Old Trafford. As such, a ‘huge’ proposal is reportedly being drawn up.

If Man Utd meet Rabiot’s financial demands, then it should not be too hard to convince him on moving England. On February 20, Fabrizio Romano revealed how the player’s ‘biggest dream’ is to star in the Premier League.

At that point, Liverpool were thought to be pursuing him. But they have now moved onto an England international, giving Man Utd a better chance at finally landing Rabiot.

Man Utd, Man City set for transfer tussle

However, competition is now emerging from another Prem rival. As per recent reports, Manchester City will complete a squad overhaul this summer. With Ilkay Gundogan likely to leave, Pep Guardiola wants to bring in Rabiot as his replacement.

This means Man Utd will have to fend off their local rivals if they want to win the race for the 35-cap international.

Rabiot would be a good signing for Man Utd. He is performing well this term, having notched seven goals and two assists in 29 matches. That includes recent Serie A goals during wins over Fiorentina and Torino.

According to WhoScored’s Juve ratings, Rabiot has been the best player for the Italian giants this campaign.

Man Utd fans may have some concerns about Rabiot’s temperament, as he has caused problems in dressing rooms in the past. But it looks like Ten Hag is willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and bank on his top performances on the pitch to help lift Man Utd.

ARSENAL ACE REFUSES EVERTON MOVE

Reiss Nelson does not want to join another club this summer as he is only gunning for a new contract at Arsenal, according to Romano.

Nelson recently made headlines by scoring the winner for Arsenal during a dramatic comeback against Bournemouth. He scored a great left-footed goal in the seventh minute of added time to help Arsenal beat Bournemouth 3-2, despite the fact the Gunners were 2-0 down after 57 minutes.

The winger’s brilliant goal has raised questions about where he might be going next. His contract expires this summer and top-flight teams such as Everton, West Ham and Crystal Palace are eyeing him up, as per 90Min.

But Romano has moved to quash any Arsenal worry about Nelson moving on. In a tweet, the transfer guru explained how Nelson’s ‘priority’ is to remain at the Emirates beyond his current deal.

Talks between the 23-year-old and Arsenal are ‘ongoing’. In addition to the English suitors, Romano reveals that clubs in Europe hope to snare Nelson. But he is willing to reject them all in order to stay with Arsenal.

Teams such as Everton and West Ham would be able to offer Nelson more game time. Due to injury problems, plus the fierce competition for places at Arsenal, he has only featured eight times this campaign.

But it seems Nelson is willing to forgive all that to try and make it at Arsenal. His decision makes sense as he has a close bond with the club after coming through their academy.

After having such a big impact at the weekend, Nelson will be hoping to play more often in the next few weeks. He could help to lessen the burden on current wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli as Arsenal eye Premier League and Europa League glory.

If the former England U21 international still does not get the game time he is after, then a loan move could take place in the summer.

But Nelson has made his mind up about his long-term future. Even if he goes out on loan, he wants to come back and make himself an Arsenal regular in the coming years.

LILLE STAR’S NEWCASTLE MOVE UNDER SERIOUS THREAT

One of Sven Botman’s former Lille team-mates will struggle to complete a Newcastle switch after a serious injury, according to reports emerging from France.

Botman spent two years at Lille, making 79 appearances and helping the club to win the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21. He formed a solid centre-back partnership with Portuguese defender Tiago Djalo there.

Botman moved to Newcastle in July last year and has gone on to become an integral player for Eddie Howe. Recently, rumours began to swirl about Djalo following Botman to St James’ Park.

Italian source Inter Live revealed how the Magpies were battling Inter Milan for Djalo.

However, the 22-year-old is unlikely to leave Lille this summer after a huge injury blow. As per French newspaper L’Equipe, Djalo ruptured his ACL during Lille’s recent 1-1 draw with Lens.

He will not play again this season as he will soon undergo surgery to try and fix the injury.

ACL tears typically rule players out for six to nine months. If this is the case for Djalo, then he will not return to action until September at the earliest.

The player will likely be injured for the whole of the summer transfer window. And this will prevent interested clubs such as Newcastle and Inter from making bids for him.

While Djalo is no longer a target for Howe, the manager could still bolster Newcastle’s defence by landing a Premier League player.

As per the Daily Mirror, Newcastle will begin talks with Southampton for Mohammed Salisu if the Saints are relegated to the Championship.
