Tottenham could still get the chance to cash in on Giovani Lo Celso this summer with Napoli now said to be interested in the midfielder.

Ange Postecoglou has done well to navigate a difficult transfer window with Tottenham and he now has the club seemingly heading in the right direction.

While the loss of Harry Kane is significant, Spurs have picked up some gems of their own. Tottenham have looked sharp in their opening games and more transfer movement is expected between now and the end of the window.

The future of Lo Celso still hangs in the balance as the Argentine playmaker continues to be linked with a move away. He spent last season on loan with Villarreal and is yet to feature under Postecoglou.

In Tottenham’s opening two Premier League matches, Lo Celso has been an unused substitute which has added to the speculation surrounding him.

Barcelona were interested in taking the midfielder on loan for the season, but Tottenham quickly rejected this offer as they are only interested in selling him on a permanent basis.

With the Spanish giants seemingly out of the race for the 27-year-old, this could have opened the door for another European side to swoop in.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Napoli have revived their interest in the Argentine star after missing out on Celta’s Gabri Veiga to Al-Ahli.

Lo Celso’s contract in North London expires in 2025 and so this could be the ideal time to cash in on the Argentina international.

Could Postecoglou find a use for Lo Celso?

While an exit seems like the best solution for Lo Celso, there is still a chance that he will stick around in North London this season.

There’s no doubt that his Tottenham career hasn’t quite gone to plan so far, but Postecoglou could still find a use for the creative midfielder.

Although he is yet to feature for Spurs this season, Postecoglou was impressed with what he saw from the midfielder during pre-season.

“I’m really happy with Gio,” Postecoglou told reporters during pre-season. “He’s been really good in training. You can see he’s a quality player and I think the way we play suits him.

“I’ve enjoyed working with him and I think he’s enjoying himself in terms of the football we want to play and yeah it’s going well.”

If the right offer was to come in then Tottenham would be happy enough to cash in on the player. However, Postecoglou could still find a use for him if he does decide to stick around.

With the end of the transfer window fast approaching, we should get an answer to this Lo Celso saga sooner rather than later.
