‘Three more signings’ expected at Tottenham, with Paratici set to bring in Christian Eriksen-like star

Antonio Conte chats to Fabio Paratici of Tottenham

One journalist thinks Tottenham could make ‘three more signings’ before the transfer window closes, including one with similarities to Christian Eriksen.

Managing director Fabio Paratici has already been incredibly busy this summer, helping Tottenham to sign five new players. Chairman Daniel Levy has sanctioned spending on Yves Bissouma and Richarlison, which totals £85million.

Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic have both arrived on free transfers, while Clement Lenglet will spend the season at Tottenham after joining on loan from Barcelona.

Tottenham and Paratici are making these moves to bolster Antonio Conte’s squad. Ultimately, they want the team to build on their fourth-placed Premier League finish last season and pick up some silverware.

The north London outfit are certainly going about their business in the right way. They have brought in players who are proven in the Prem – Bissouma and Richarlison – as well as natural winners, such as Perisic.

Spurs are also in talks with Middlesbrough over the capture of right-back Djed Spence. He hasn’t gone on Boro’s pre-season tour, suggesting a transfer will soon reach completion.

According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, Spurs could end up signing two players after Spence.

And one of them will be a creative midfielder, similar to former Spurs man Eriksen.

Tottenham to make ‘two or three more signings’

“I think around two or three more signings,” Bridge said (via HITC). “Djed Spence is widely known. They want another wing-back. They are still negotiating a fee with Middlesbrough. The player wants to come.

“I think they want a more attack-minded central midfielder. Someone a bit more creative. I thought maybe at the start of the summer, it would have been Christian Eriksen.

“But it seems as though Eriksen is looking for a ‘new challenge’ and Spurs isn’t a ‘new challenge’ for him.”

There were some strong links between Eriksen and Spurs amid the final few months of his Brentford contract. It would have been a fairytale reunion after his collapse at Euro 2020 and subsequent return to the top flight.

Christian Eriksen is a solid signing for Man United

Christian Eriksen has agreed a move to Manchester United, but they still need several other players in this window.

But Eriksen appears to have snubbed Conte’s team and is instead favouring a Manchester United move.

Spurs already have a creative midfielder in their squad, in the form of Argentina international Giovani Lo Celso.

But he has been left at home for the pre-season tour and told to find a new club. Clearly Conte doesn’t think he is good enough, setting up a summer exit.

With Lo Celso’s Spurs contract running until 2025, they should be able to get a decent amount of money for him. And this will help to fund Paratici’s pursuit of a new playmaker.

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made a big prediction about Spurs ahead of next season.
