Ten Hag tipped to land ‘special’ £75m Man Utd transfer target and replace favourite to ‘worry’ Liverpool
Manchester United are being tipped to land one of their prime transfer targets this summer with Erik ten Hag ready to make more strong signings in news that will be a cause for concern at Liverpool.
Ten Hag has got United upwardly mobile at just the right time. The Red Devils laboured home in sixth place last season, but the Dutchman has come in and emphatically released them from their shackles.
And having steered them to Carabao Cup glory last weekend, that appears to be just the start of a successful return to glory at Old Trafford.
Indeed, they are also in the FA Cup quarter-finals, where they face Fulham. They can also also reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League if they overcome Real Betis over two legs.
But most promising of all, United are currently third in the Premier League, having overhauled closed the all-too frequent seasonal chasm to Manchester City. And with Liverpool seeming in needing a rebuild of their own, United have seemingly soared above them.
Now, a huge summer window is approaching for Manchester United. The club are expected to extremely active once again on the transfer front. And they could also allow a number of big names to leave Old Trafford.
To that end, Ben Jacobs has revealed to TEAMtalk exactly what the future holds for Harry Maguire.
But is the potential for new arrivals that excites the most.
Ten Hag wants to bring in a new big-name striker to lead the line and become a regular source of goals.
And there may also be another signing in midfield, with Frenkie De Jong on their radar.

Danny Murphy tips Man Utd to seal Frenkie de Jong transfer
Now pundit Danny Murphy believes that a move for De Jong can be done. And he reckons the ferociousness of their rebuilding will be “worrying” for Liverpool.
Describing the Barcelona star as a “super-talent”, he reckons his signing could spell bad news for Christian Eriksen.
The Dane has proved an astute signing since arriving as a free agent last summer. But the capture of De Jong can see United land an even better player and strengthen further.
Murphy is clearly concerned, though, as he explained to the Five YouTube channel.
“I tell you what is worrying from a Liverpool point of view, that relationship between Erik ten Hag and Frenkie de Jong, because he is a player!” Murphy said.
“Barcelona have got to sell some players. They need to recoup over £100m and De Jong would get them a big chunk of that if they let him go.
“In effect, De Jong would play where Christian Eriksen is playing alongside Casemiro. That would mean Eriksen being used more as a squad player.
“That’s probably why they went for Eriksen when they didn’t get De Jong because they’re both creative. De Jong is more athletic and a bit better at receiving the ball. But they are similar.
“Frenkie de Jong is a super talent and he would be a big, big addition for them. It would be a really big addition for Manchester United.”
Paul Parker would welcome De Jong signing at United
Former United full-back Paul Parker also reckons De Jong would be a super addition for United this summer.
However, were they to fail to convince Barcelona to sell, he reckons Nicolo Barella of Inter Milan could prove another option.
“I would love it if United signed De Jong. He is a different type of player than Casemiro and he is quite agile on the ball. He would fit perfectly in Ten Hag’s midfield,” Parker said.
“He’s a great footballer and he would make the team a lot better. De Jong would add a certain ‘constancy’ to the midfield and in possession he could add a lot to this United.”
On Barella, he added: “Barella is also a good player, but it is a bit more difficult to fit in an Italian. I would always prefer De Jong to Barella, partly because Ten Hag knows him (ie Frenkie, ed.) so well.”
