Steve Bull names Wolves star who can ‘stretch’ to same level as Ronaldo

Club legend Steve Bull believes Wolves winger Pedro Neto has the ability to be as good as Cristiano Ronaldo and can achieve his goals at Molineux.

Neto, 21, joined Wolves from Portuguese side Braga in the summer of 2019. He was eased into the first-team picture by Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Portugal star made 29 appearances during his first campaign for the West Midlanders. However, only nine of those were starts as he was used as an impact player later in games.

That has all changed in 2020-2021. Raul Jimenez’s absence due to a fractured skill opened the door for Neto to shine.

And he has taken the opportunity with both hands, featuring in all 29 of the club’s Premier League games this term. He has started 28 and scored five goals while also contributing five assists.

Those statistics compare favourably to Juventus star Ronaldo. During his second season with Manchester United, he bagged five goals and six assists.

Therefore Neto is just one assist shy of his superstar compatriot. With nine games to go, there is every chance that the former Lazio loan star will at least match the Portugal captain’s feat.

Bull scored 306 goals for Wolves during 13 sensational seasons at the club. And the 55-year-old sees no reason why Neto should not go on to match Ronaldo’s achievements.

Nuno Espirito Santo: Rui Patricio is conscious and OK

Nuno Espirito Santo confirms that goalkeeper Rui Patricio is conscious after his collision with Conor Coady in Wolves’ defeat to Liverpool.

“I think he can stretch to those levels, I really do,” he told Football FanCast. “He’s absolutely class, he just floats across the grass and the way he stretches his legs past players is absolutely unbelievable.”

No need for Neto to move on

Neto’s form this season has seen him linked with a number of clubs. The man from Viana do Castelo extended his contract until 2025 back in November last year.

But reports in Italy in the same month suggested Juventus were already getting excited about the forward. They reportedly see him as a target for the summer, with the possibility of playing him in the same team as Ronaldo.

Former Liverpool and England striker Emile Heskey suggested last month that Neto would be perfect for Liverpool.

There has been no word from the Reds as to whether they are keen. But Bull does not believe that the talented youngster needs to go anywhere to fulfil his dreams.

“I know there’s a lot of talk saying he’ll go to a big club, but he is at a big club now with a big manager,” he added.
