Solitary Luis Suarez strike eases Uruguay into knockout stage
Luis Suarez scored a first half goal to secure Uruguay’s spot in the knockout stage of the World Cup.
Uruguay have failed to sparkle so far, but ground out a 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia, with Suarez pouncing on a goalkeeping error to settle the contest.
The result sees Saudi Arabia and Egypt eliminated, while Uruguay and hosts Russia will face-off against each other in their final group game to decide who advances as Group A winners.
