Senior star’s Tottenham career may have ended, as £30m Man Utd transfer offers ideal solution

Tottenham stars Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, Ben Davies and Son Heung-min

A Tottenham veteran may have played his final match for the club, and a Man Utd star has emerged as one of two readymade and Premier League-proven replacements, per reports.

It’s been another tortuous campaign Tottenham, with a season that promised much ultimately set to deliver nothing.

Harry Kane is quietly enjoying one of his best ever campaigns. But for Erling Haaland, Kane’s mark of 25 goals would put him five clear of next-placed Ivan Toney in the race for the EPL golden boot.

Others among Spurs’ ranks have endured seasons at the opposite end of the spectrum, most notably Hugo Lloris.

The French goalkeeper, 36, currently leads the Premier League in the errors leading to a goal category. What makes his tally of four all the more concerning is the fact only two players are on three (Illan Meslier and Idirssa Gueye).

Lloris has clearly seen better days and speculation his 11-year stint in north London could be cut short this summer is gathering pace.

Lloris’ current contract expires at the end of next season. However, a premature exit this summer continues to be mooted and given he’s currently sidelined with a thigh injury, The Evening Standard suggest he may never play for Tottenham again.

Lloris is out of Tottenham’s clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Standard label him a ‘major doubt’ to play again this season.

If that scenario unfolds, the punishing 6-1 defeat to Newcastle will become Lloris’ last competitive game in a Tottenham shirt. He’ll be due a testimonial, though they’re not classed as competitive fixtures.

Lloris replacement to come from Man Utd or Brentford?

The Standard reiterate Spurs are expected to be in the market for a new No 1 this summer. To that end, the Daily Mail suggest Lloris’ replacement could come from either Man Utd or Brentford.

In lieu of David de Gea homing in on a new contract, Football Insider reported Dean Henderson has determined it’s game over at Old Trafford.

Henderson is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest and hopes to play regularly next year to help force his way into England’s plans for Euro 2024. A permanent move to Forest is possible, though only if they beat the drop.

Tottenham hold interest in Henderson too, per The Mail, and fears recent thigh surgery could scupper a summer move have been allayed to some degree.

Henderson has undergone an operation to repair a thigh problem that’s sidelined him since mid-January. The Manchester Evening News suggested he could be out of action until August, though the player sees the situation differently.

Taking to Instagram to provide an update on his recovery time, Henderson stated he “will be back for pre season”. As such, a summer transfer should not be thwarted.

A Henderson to switch to Tottenham would seemingly be to the benefit of all involved.

United would recoup a sizeable fee for a squad player, while Spurs would be landing a readymade new number one. Henderson too would get his wish by becoming a regular starter at one of England’s top clubs.

Elsewhere, The Mail name Brentford’s David Raya as another option Tottenham are considering.

The Spain international won’t sign a new deal with the Bees who are expected to cash in while they still can this summer.

Henderson has been valued at the £30m mark, while Thomas Frank has previously verbalised a £40m valuation of Raya.

A third option comes in the form of Inter Milan standout, Andre Onana
