Arsenal target’s Champions League ‘dream’ gives Gunners hope of completing exciting transfer

Pedro Neto, Wolves, February 2022

Arsenal target Pedro Neto has revealed his dreams of playing in the Champions League, giving Arsenal hope of securing a transfer.

The Gunners have been linked with the snare of the Wolves ace for a little while. Indeed, recent reports have stated they could soon make a move for the Portuguese.

Should Arsenal make the move, Neto would become their sixth signing of the summer. The Emirates outfit’s recruitment has been very good so far this window.

Gabriel Jesus, particularly, has been a fantastic addition to the side. The striker has contributed to five goals in Arsenal’s first three games this season.

Neto might soon be added to that front line, too. The Wolves winger has revealed an ambition of his that could help Arsenal’s pursuit.

“The dream of any player is to play in the Champions League,” he told The Times.

While Arsenal will not play in the competition this season, they look like a contender to finish in a top-four spot currently. Indeed, they sit at the top of the Premier League table, and are the only side to have won all three of their games so far.

They will play in the Europa League this season. That is more than can be said for Wolves, who missed out on European football entirely last term.

As such, a move to Arsenal could help Neto gain experience in Europe.

What’s more, he could soon realise his dream of playing in the Champions League, should Arsenal continue in their current vein of form.

Neto a great Arsenal addition

Adding Neto into the mix of attacking talent would be a great move by Arsenal. They already have the likes of Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka firing.

Adding a player of Neto’s calibre into that group would up the quality even more. While the star only featured in 13 Premier League games last season, due to injury, he showed his class towards the back end of the season.

He contributed to two goals in five starts last season – an assist against Manchester City, and a goal on the final day against Liverpool.

Furthermore, he has already stepped onto the international scene. Neto has contributed to three goals in three appearances for Portugal, including scoring a goal on his debut.

With that being said, he is likely to improve even more over the next few seasons, and an environment such as Arsenal could promote his development.
