Man Utd in battle with two giants to sign hugely experienced Madrid star
Manchester United are among the contenders to sign Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid, according to reports.
Ramos is in the final year of his contract at Madrid, where he has been since 2005. In that time, he has become a club legend, even scoring 100 goals despite being a defender.
However, his spell with Madrid may be coming to an end. The club may have to release him at the end of his contract, in an effort to reduce their wage bill.
Even though Ramos will be 35 years by that time, there will still be plenty of interest in him. For example, he has been linked with a move to David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
More recently, there were rumours that Neymar wanted him to join Paris Saint-Germain – and that would lead him to commit his own future to the Ligue 1 giants.
Now, however, claims have arisen that Ramos could end up in the Premier League. According to Marca, Manchester United are one of three clubs interested in the World Cup winner.
PSG and Juventus are the others, although the Spanish outlet does claim that Madrid may be able to offer him a two-year extension on the same terms to stay.

Ramos’ wage demands would be a big problem for either United or Juventus, but PSG could be able to afford him.
However, United remain in search of a first-choice partner for Harry Maguire at centre-back. Their defensive record so far this season has not been the best, so they could sign a reinforcement.
Someone like Ramos would provide the leadership qualities that some perceive them to be lacking.
Pre-contract agreement possible
Ramos will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of Spain from January, with a view to joining them for the new season.
Ramos has made 660 appearances for Real Madrid, winning 22 major trophies along the way. His experience would benefit whichever team he plays for next season.
That could still be Madrid, but if they are unable to convince him to stay, then he could pursue a fresh challenge in a different league.
