Major boost for Arsenal as they edge closer to three new deals, as Arteta plots future domination

Granit Xhaka, William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus, October 2022

Arsenal are reportedly hopeful that Granit Xhaka, William Saliba and Aaron Ramsadle will follow Buyako Saka in penning contract extensions soon.

The trio have been vital in the Gunners’ tremendous start to the Premier League campaign, so this will come as good news to the Emirates faithful.

This also represents an important step for Mikel Arteta, as he looks to cement Arsenal’s status as one of the best teams in Europe.

The London club currently sit two points clear at the top of the league table, with a game in hand on second-placed Manchester City, after winning 17 of their 23 opening matches so far.

This has partly been thanks to some tremendous performances from Xhaka, Saliba and Ramsdale, so it’s no surprise to see Arteta keen to tie them down to new contracts.

As reported by TEAMtalk on Thursday, Saka is edging closer to penning a new deal with the London club, after proving beyond any doubt that he is one of the best attacking players in England.

The England international is believed to have been offered a new weekly wage of £200,000, which would make him one of Arsenal’s highest earners.

Saka has already made it clear that he wants to extend his stay at the Emirates, with only the final details now needing to be negotiated.

Arsenal make statement of intent with new contract talks

According to reputed journalist Graham Bailey, Arsenal are now hoping to follow up a deal for Saka with new contracts for Xhaka, Saliba and Ramsdale.

The Gunners have already secured the signatures of Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah this season, and now it seems more senior players could follow suit.

As mentioned, this is an important step for Mikel Arteta, as he has clearly built a team that is capable of challenging for trophies, so it is vital that he can keep hold of his most important players.

This season, Xhaka has arguably been in the form of his career, making 31 appearances across all competitions so far, scoring four goals and making five assists.

Alongside the likes of Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard in midfield, his ability to break up opposition attacks and vision to play quick forward passes has been key to the Gunners’ success.

Saliba, on the other hand, has also been a mainstay in Arteta’s starting XI this season, with 27 outings overall, helping his team to 10 clean sheets in the process. The Frenchman is only 21 too, so he could become an even better player in the future.

Finally, Ramsdale has shown beyond any doubt this season that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, keeping 10 clean sheets across all competitions and making countless brilliant saves.

Arsenal still have a long way to go, but if they can keep up their current form, they look set for their first league title since 2004, which highlights how important it is to keep their current intact for the future.
