Liverpool, Man Utd rival Arsenal for €25m Hungarian assist king

Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham Hotspur will rival Arsenal and Real Madrid for the signing of Red Bull Salzburg attacker Dominik Szoboszlai, claims a  report.

The 20-year-old is arguably one of Europe’s in form players with five goals and nine assists in 13 games this season.

RB Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch has admitted he expects to lose Szoboszlai in the winter transfer window.

“Yes. The reality is that a guy like Dominik Szoboszlai is likely to have many suitors this winter,” said Marsch.

“So let’s see what happens, but I would be surprised if he winds up staying past winter.”

One of the factors that is attracting so much interest in Szoboszlai is that his Salzburg deal contains a release clause of just €25m (£22.5m).

Gunners chief Mikel Arteta is desperate to add more creativity to his midfield. They in fact failed with a bid to get Houssem Aouar on board this summer. And now Szoboszlai is thought to be top of his target list.

No Leipzig deal

Talks between Arsenal technical director Edu and his agent Matyas Esterhazy have been confirmed by Gazzetta dello Sport.

Sport Bild say that Leipzig are set to win the race for Szoboszlai’s signature, with a fee of £18m, plus a percentage of any future sale believed to be in the offing.

AC Milan are also interested, but his agent recently dismissed talk of a move to Germany to sister club RB Leipzig.

“Dominik Szoboszlai has no agreement with Leipzig or any other club, except of course his current club Red Bull Salzburg,” Esterhazy told Hungarian outlet Index.

Now though, according to 90mins Tottenham, Liverpool and Man Utd have entered the race to sign the Hungary star.

The Premier League’s big gun have been making checks on the midfielder, while Wolves, Leicester and Everton are also keen.
