Man Utd learn of huge fee needed to sign midfielder who could save Solskjaer

Dominik Szoboszlai and Jude Bellingham contest possession, RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund November 2021

Manchester United have learnt the huge asking price of a versatile midfielder who could be the last roll of the dice for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as per a German report.

The Bundesliga is filled with promising young talent. Some English stars have been making a name for themselves over there, while many players from smaller surrounding countries often land up in the league.

As a result, it is very multicultural. Few have such a wide range of nationalities in their squad as RB Leizpig, though.

The Red Bull backed club have become a feeder side for Premier League teams due to the wide array of promising young talent they have on their books.

The likes of Naby Keita, Timo Werner and Ibrahima Konate have been snapped up by Liverpool and Chelsea in recent times.

And now the next move on the cards could be one to Manchester United. That’s because Sport Bild report (via Sport Witness) they are interested in Dominik Szoboszlai.

United are said to have kept an eye on Szoboszlai, 21, since the summer, as well as Atletico Madrid. And in fairness, his performances have been hard to ignore.

The Hungary international only joined from sister side RB Salzburg in January of this year. And he didn’t feature for his new side until this season due to injury.

But since then, his transition into the team has been seamless. That has been aided by his extreme versatility.

Manchester United table Kieran Trippier contract offer

Manchester United have reportedly offered Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier a two-and-a-half year contract, with more updates on Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard.

He can play anywhere across the middle of the park, and has been doing so this campaign. Wherever he plays, he’s been producing wonders.

In 15 appearances in all competitions, he has scored six goals and registered three assists. Whether the Red Devils need another attacker is in question, but his talent is clear to see.

If they want him, he is reported to have a release clause of somewhere between the €60-70m mark. That will be a tidy profit for Leipzig, who paid roughly £20m for him.

One step forward but one step back

Meanwhile, United have reportedly been warned off a West Ham ace as the Irons plan to build their team around him over the next few years.

West Ham are benefitting from the brilliant form of their attackers. Target man Michail Antonio has bagged six goals in ten league appearances so far.

Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma, who tend to operate on either wing, are also contributing with goals.

But it is the backbone of that attack which the Hammers hierarchy are said to have no intention of selling to the Red Devils…
