Juventus plot move for key Wolves attacker despite recent contract renewal

Juventus are expressing an interest in Wolves forward Pedro Neto, according to reports in Italy.

Neto has established himself as a key player for Wolves this season, starting all eight league games so far. He has been building on the promise he showed last season, when he scored three goals and added three assists from 20 league appearances – nine of which were starts.

Neto already has one goal and two assists this term, as he looks certain to surpass last season’s numbers.

His form has kept Adama Traore out of the team in recent weeks, and even earned him a new contract. Neto signed a new five-year deal towards the beginning of November.

However, several clubs will try to lure him away from Molineux before his new deal expires – and Juventus could be one of them.

According to Turin-based paper Tuttosport, the Serie A champions have outlined Neto as a potential target for the future. A deal would be unlikely this soon after he signed a new contract, but Juventus will keep him in mind for later transfer windows.

Neto has some experience of Serie A, having spent one year at Lazio. However, he only made four appearances – all as a substitute – before heading to Molineux.

Neto to link up with Ronaldo?

His fortunes have improved since then, putting him back on the radar in Italy. He has also earned his first call-up to the Portuguese national team, scoring on his debut in the current international break.

Therefore, he is now a teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo at international level – and could be at club level as well one day.

Of course, there are doubts over Ronaldo’s own long-term future. There have been reports that Juventus, while obviously satisfied with his output, are looking to get his wages off the books.

That has led to talk of a return to the Premier League with Manchester United. Some, however, have suggested he should try his luck at Neto’s current club Wolves.
