West Ham transfer news: Serie A star remains on Moyes’ radar but Milan could throw spanner in works

Jakub Kiwior Spezia Calcio

West Ham are reportedly still in the hunt to sign Spezia Calcio defender Jakub Kiwior in the 2023 summer transfer window.

The Hammers narrowly missed out on signing the 22-year-old in the recent window but are expected to renew that interest, according to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb.

David Moyes’ men will, however, face competition from Italian giants AC Milan to land the player.

The Poland defender is highly regarded in Italy but it looks as if he will take some persuading to move to England.

West Ham certainly had a busy summer window, with new defensive options added by Moyes.

The Hammers spent big money on Nayef Aguerd who picked up an injury in pre-season. He is expected to be back in action after the World Cup.

German Thilo Kehrer also arrived from Paris Saint-Germain. And he has adapted well so far despite a tough start to the season for West Ham.

Moyes still wants centre-back addition

Central defence remains a position that Moyes would like to upgrade though. The Hammers have Angelo Ogbonna out of contract next summer, while Craig Dawson could be allowed to move in January.

With that in mind, Kiwior has been kept in mind, as reported by Tutto. Milan, though, are likely to have the upper hand as they could offer Champions League football.

West Ham are back in Premier League action on Saturday evening when they host Wolves at the London Stadium.

Moyes’ men are currently in the bottom three after the opening seven games, with just one win to their name.

However, victory over the Molineux outfit will see the Hammers move above their opponents in the table.
