Iconic Man Utd, Arsenal duos blown away as Haaland, De Bruyne named best partnership of all time amid Man City charge

A three-time Premier League champion has named Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne as the best partnership the competition has ever seen, as the duo have blown away some incredible players.

Haaland has been sensational during his first season in England, scoring 49 goals in just 43 appearances. He has broken a host of records and has blown everyone else away in the Premier League’s Golden Boot race.

De Bruyne has linked up with Haaland brilliantly this term, picking out the striker with either immensely accurate crosses or piercing through balls. De Bruyne has set up eight of Haaland’s goals in the league, which makes them the most efficient partnership in the division.

Haaland turned provider during the recent 4-1 win against Arsenal, setting up De Bruyne for two goals while also registering a strike of his own.

Haaland and De Bruyne have played a huge role in City catching Arsenal up. Pep Guardiola’s side will overtake the Gunners if they win their two games in hand on their title rivals.

The stunning form of the attacking duo has led to comparisons with some of the Prem’s best ever partnerships, such as Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole and Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton.

Surprisingly, former Arsenal defender Martin Keown thinks Haaland and De Bruyne have managed to surpass Gunners icons Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp.

“This is one of the best Premier League teams we’ve ever seen,” Keown said on talkSPORT. “I thought Bergkamp and Henry was one hell of a partnership for Arsenal back in the day, but in De Bruyne and Haaland, I think maybe it’s gone to another level.

Praise heaped on devastating Man City pair

“Haaland is such a young man and he just terrorised Arsenal’s defence.

“And De Bruyne’s movement… I mean, wow.

“I thought Pep Guardiola was quite magnificent with his tactics. City have fine-tuned their system and Arsenal were in real disarray. They couldn’t cope.”

De Bruyne and Haaland could end up battling Lionel Messi for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award. Messi is the current favourite following Argentina’s triumph in the World Cup, however that could change if City manage to win the treble.

The Citizens are now in pole position to win the Prem yet again, while they are also through to the Champions League semis and FA Cup final. If City win all three trophies, then De Bruyne and Haaland could put Messi under serious pressure for the world’s most coveted individual trophy.

For many, De Bruyne and Haaland may still be behind Henry and Bergkamp as they have only been linking up for one season. But the City duo are proving to be a nightmare for opposition defenders and if they keep their amazing link-up going then they will soon get close to Henry and Bergkamp in terms of legendary status.

Meanwhile, a report claims Mikel Arteta has completely altered his transfer plans after the defeat to City, with a prime Arsenal target to be snubbed.
