Tottenham warned ‘transfer show’ is coming for forward mirroring Man City legend

Tottenham talisman Harry Kane is matching a Man City legend stride for stride, though that’ll see the “transfer show” come to north London in the summer, claims Dimitar Berbatov.

Kane’s future came under the microscope last summer amid a persistent Man City pursuit. Pep Guardiola sought to bring the Englishman to Manchester to fill the void left by Sergio Aguero.

City reportedly failed with multiple bids worth well over £100m. Reports at the time suggested Spurs supremo Daniel Levy was holding out for £150m.

The Cityzens ultimately refused to bid that high, leaving Guardiola to play a series of rotating false nines this season.

While City have remained a dominant force in English football, they have been kept goalless in four league matches this year – three times more than Liverpool.

In the upcoming summer window, Man City are once again expected to address their centre-forward position. However, persistent reports have suggested they’ll target Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland this time round, not Kane.

That will be welcome news to Spurs fans who have seen Kane rebound in recent weeks after a slow start to the campaign. However, it could also leave the door ajar for Man Utd to test the waters.

Harry Kane wanted to partner Cristiano Ronaldo up front at Man United

Harry Kane May look to leave Tottenham this summer and Manchester United want him but apparently to play with Ronaldo instead of replacing CR7

Now, speaking to the Daily Star, former United and Spurs striker, Dimitar Berbatov, has warned the transfer circus will knock on Spurs’ door once more regarding Kane this summer.

“We’ll probably see a transfer show around him in the summer like last time,” said the Bulgarian.

“Is he coming is he going, we’ll talk about it so much more. But for now, he’s a Spurs player, and I’m happy he’s back scoring goals.”

Harry Kane draws favourable De Bruyne comparison

Kane has earned rave reviews for the expert way in which he links play between the midfield and his fellow attackers.

Kane often drops into deeper positions and has license to showcase his tremendous passing range. His passing ability has been universally lauded in recent times, with Jamie Carragher in particular claiming he’s as good as Kevin De Bruyne.

Berbatov too drew comparisons with Man City’s Belgian midfielder. In doing so, he claimed Kane is already a Premier League great.

“For quite some time, he has been one of the greats in the Premier League,” said Berbatov.

“The [Man] City game proved that, and not just because he scores goals!

“Honestly, I look at strikers a bit differently. His overall movement around the pitch, and how he gets the ball.

“When he has the ball, there is a calmness around the pitch. And when he passes the ball, oh my god, it’s like I’m watching Kevin De Bruyne playing for Spurs.

“He’s so good at scoring goals and playing killer passes – so he’s in between a No.9 and No.10.”
