Harry Kane transfer: Man Utd target subject of cheeky first bid as iconic star advises Tottenham striker on move

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is unlikely to be impressed after Real Madrid lodged what will be deemed a derisory first offer to sign Harry Kane.

The England captain finds himself at arguably the biggest crossroads of his illustrious career. With just a year left on his Tottenham deal, Kane is the subject of intense speculation over a move away.

And while the 29-year-old has enjoyed another tremendous campaign on a personal level, he still remains without a trophy to show for his efforts. Indeed, the goals record has tumbled this year for both club and country, proving Kane to be one of the greatest finishers of all time.

Earlier this year, there was a strong belief that Kane would cement his future to Tottenham. However, the departure of Antonio Conte as manager set the wheels in motion for a spectacular collapse at Spurs. Indeed, the club tumbled from a position in the top four to eighth – and left themselves without any form of European football.

Now speculation is mounting that Kane will refuse a new deal and try force a move away. To that end, a report last week claimed Kane had made clear his wish to leave this summer with Levy naming both a fee and his preferred buyer for the striker.

As it stands, Kane has two possible destinations to choose from. And with Kane himself reportedly ruling Bayern Munich out the equation, it will seemingly come down to a straight battle between Manchester United and Real Madrid.

United’s interest in Kane is strong. However, there is a strong belief around the Red Devils that Levy will simply refuse to sell to them.

Harry Kane transfer: Real Madrid make lowly opening offer

As a result, United are actively pursuing another striker in Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.

However, a possible move to Real Madrid does look on the cards. They are in the market for a new centre-forward too, with Karim Benzema leaving the Bernabeu after 14 successful seasons.

As the 35-times winners of LaLiga and 14-times European champions, Kane would surely fancy his chances of winning trophies were he to move there.

And with Carlo Ancelotti making clear his admiration for Kane, reports in Spain claim they have already made contact with an opening offer.

Per Sport, Real’s opening gambit for Kane will be for a lowly €80m (£69m) – some distance below Levy’s valuation. Indeed, the Spurs supremo, while accepting of the striker’s fate, rates his striker at the €120m (£103m) mark.

Clearly the two clubs are some distance apart as things stand. However, there is common belief in the Spanish media that a compromise can be reached.

Furthermore, United, it seems, appear unlikely to be bid for fear of simply wasting their time with Levy.

Sergio Ramos offers advice to Kane

With Real Madrid potentially making it a one-horse race, iconic star Sergio Ramos – a winner of 22 trophies while at the Bernabeu – has advised Kane why he cannot ignore the move to the Spanish capital.

“My advice to any player is don’t turn down the opportunity to play for Real Madrid. It is a special club who know how to win,” Ramos said.

“He [Kane] has an incredible physical presence. You can’t score as many goals as he does in the Premier League and not be able to play the physical side of the game, but also he can play the technical side of the game as well and I don’t think he gets enough credit for that.

“Yes, he is a great goalscorer, but also he is a great football player as well.”

Ramos, now a free agent after leaving PSG, also tipped his cap to former teammate Benzema. The two players will potentially find themselves lining up in the Saudi Pro League next season.

“He [Benzema] has contributed to so much success with Real Madrid you will never be able to replace him,” added Ramos. “He is one of those players who is unique in the history of Madrid.

“What you do need to do though is bring in a quality forward who can come in and score goals. Not everybody can play for Real Madrid as there is so much pressure and expectation so it needs to be the right player.”
