Giovani Lo Celso one of four players omitted from Tottenham squad, but Villarreal transfer still faces complications

Antonio Conte has left Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele out of the pre-season squad heading over to South Korea.

Spurs have already been busy in this summers transfer window, landing Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Clement Lenglet. With this many newcomers, it was expected that Tottenham would have to sell some first-team players to accommodate for the new arrivals. And now, it seems Conte has identified four players he is prepared to part ways with.

According to Marca, two players on the list were left out due to a ‘possible transfer.’

Lo Celso and Reguilon are both expected to leave Tottenham fairly soon. A return to Spain is likely for Lo Celso.

The Argentinian midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan with Villarreal. During that spell he made 16 league appearances, scoring one and assisting another.

He also made six Champions League appearances for the club.  The Spanish outfit reached the semi-finals before being beaten by Liverpool 5-2 on aggregate.

Nevertheless, Villarreal were clearly impressed with Lo Celso as they look to make his move permanent. However, the move still won’t be straightforward.

Despite no longer being part of Tottenham’s future plans, they are hoping to still receive a sizeable fee for his services. Spurs paid £27.2m for the Argentine, and are looking for at least £17m.

As a result, the Yellow Submarine may have to sell one of their key players to afford a permanent move.

Sergio Reguilon joins Giovani Lo Celso on Spurs exit

Reguilon also expects to be playing elsewhere next season. The Spaniard has reportedly handed his agent Kia Joorabchian the task of finding a new club in the next few weeks.

Reguilon made 25 Premier League appearances last season, and at 25 years of age still has time to improve.

However, it is believed the arrival of Perisic has made the left-back surplus to requirements. It is unclear as of yet who is most likely to sign the Spain international.

Lo Celso set for Spurs exit?

Giovanni Lo Celso has been on loan at Villarreal since January and they are extremely keen on making his deal permanent, with Spurs asking for £17 million for the Argentine.

Elsewhere, Winks’ omission from the squad means he has been told he has no future with Spurs.

There is still a chance the Englihsman could star in the Premier League next season, with Everton linked for a move.

Ndombele is also expected to leave, however his next destination is unclear. He spent the second half of last season in France, on loan with Lyon.
