Liverpool appear to be on the verge of signing Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton after Fabrizio Romano revealed the transfer to be a ‘done deal’, while also naming three more players Jurgen Klopp may pursue.

Mac Allister became a prime target for Liverpool soon after they decided against landing Jude Bellingham due to his massive price tag. Reds officials have been left impressed by Mac Allister’s exceptional season with Brighton, during which the attacking midfielder has notched 12 goals and three assists in 40 games. Mac Allister also played an important role in Argentina’s World Cup triumph late last year.

Despite the playmaker being so impressive in both the Premier League and World Cup, he will not cost anywhere near the £108million Real Madrid will have to pay for Bellingham. Romano claims Liverpool will spend ‘way less’ than the £60m fee which has been mentioned for Mac Allister.

On Sunday, it emerged that his camp had flown to England to get an Anfield transfer sorted. And Mac Allister’s cousin Luciano Guaycochea, who plays for Malaysian club Perak, recently made a big hint about the move.

“I cannot say where he’s going to play but everyone knows the Liverpool deal is close,” he stated. “It’s a big team. But anywhere he goes, I hope that he can play well.”

On Twitter, Romano has now given Liverpool fans the ‘here we go’ confirmation they will have been craving. He revealed there is a full agreement in place between the 24-year-old and Liverpool on personal terms.

Mac Allister will soon sign a five-year contract with Liverpool which is designed to keep him on Merseyside until June 2028.

Liverpool will match Mac Allister’s buyout clause ‘in the next [few] days’. It is unclear exactly how much the player will cost, though as mentioned previously, it will be far less than £60m.

Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool ‘done’

Romano adds that Mac Allister will have his Liverpool medical in the next 24-48 hours. He ends his tweet by calling the transfer a ‘done deal’.

In a separate update, the Italian journalist named the three midfielders Liverpool could go after once the Mac Allister deal is sorted. They are Borussia Monchengladbach star Manu Kone, Khephren Thuram of Nice and rising Celta Vigo man Gabri Veiga.

At the time of writing it seems either Kone or Thuram are more likely to end up at Liverpool than Veiga. That is because the Reds have already held talks with Kone and Thuram’s agents, while they are simply admirers of Veiga at this point. However, a lot can change in the space of a week in the transfer window and Liverpool could end up going in a completely different direction.

Either way, Liverpool fans will be delighted to see the club finally sorting out their midfield problems by getting Mac Allister through the door as a priority.

Meanwhile, a Premier League star has spoken about his future amid Liverpool and Arsenal being interested in his services.
