Fabrizio Romano reveals contract ‘priority’ for Ten Hag as Man Utd talks set, with fellow star to be pushed out

Trusted source Fabrizio Romano has detailed which Manchester United star is set to receive a new contract, while a fellow player in his position is due to be on the move.

Man Utd now have a World Cup winner in their squad, following Argentina’s penalty shootout victory over France on Sunday. Centre-back Lisandro Martinez made five appearances for his country at the tournament and now boasts a World Cup winners medal in his collection.

Martinez will likely be given some time off to celebrate and travel back to South America. This means he probably won’t be involved when Man Utd come up against Burnley in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

However, he is set to be in Ten Hag’s squad for when the Red Devils play their next Premier League match. That is against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday December 27.

Much has been said about Ten Hag’s January transfer plans, with the Dutchman looking to make the squad even better after a successful summer.

And Romano has added to the mix by revealing what will happen in the right-back position.

On Monday, a report in the Manchester Evening News put West Ham on Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s trail. The 25-year-old has little chance of making it under Ten Hag due to his lack of attacking threat. As such, he is free to leave Old Trafford.

Romano has given his take on Wan-Bissaka’s situation. He claims the race for his signature to be more widespread than just West Ham. Premier League teams Wolves and Crystal Palace are both ‘interested’ in landing the Englishman this winter, too.

Man Utd aiming to ‘find a solution’ for outcast

Man Utd are ‘trying to find a solution’ for Wan-Bissaka by letting him leave. They do not want to stall his career by keeping him on the bench for the next few seasons.

Romano also confirms what will happen to Wan-Bissaka’s fellow right-back, Diogo Dalot. Ten Hag has been impressed by him this term and is pushing for the club to extend his contract as a ‘priority’. ‘Talks will take place soon’ with Dalot, Romano says.

The Portugal World Cup man is out of contract at the end of the campaign. Although, Man Utd do have a 12-month extension option.

He has picked up interest from Barcelona in recent months, which explains why Ten Hag hopes to engineer fresh terms. These will vastly reduce Barca’s chances of capturing Dalot. And if they do, they will have to spend big money on him.

In addition, there is the possibility of Man Utd signing a new right-back in January. Ten Hag’s three-man wish list for the position reportedly includes Malo Gusto of Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong and Inter Milan ace Denzel Dumfries.

Man Utd may bid for one or two of these full-backs next month. They would arrive in Manchester to provide competition and backup for Dalot.

Elsewhere, Man Utd have reportedly launched a €60m (£52.3m) bid for a World Cup attacker.
