European giants ‘make attempt’ to sign Man Utd linked Everton star Sean Dyche won’t start

PSV Eindhoven are reportedly keen on signing Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite permanently this summer, amid links with Manchester United.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a successful season-long loan with PSV last season and the Dutch giants are keen to bring him back to the club.

Branthwaite has been named on the Everton bench for their first two matches of the season but is yet to play a single minute under Sean Dyche.

This is despite Branthwaite making 36 appearances in all competitions for PSV last term, helping them to win the KNVB Cup in the process.

Given the poor form of Michael Keane, you would expect Everton to start utilising the England under-21 international soon. The Toffees’ financial struggles are well documented, however, so they could sell him for the right price.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Man Utd have been linked with signing Branthwaite recently.

They now look set to sign Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice, however, so it’s unlikely they’ll bid for the Everton youngster this summer.

PSV make ‘another attempt’ to sign Everton star

According to Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink, PSV have ‘made another attempt’ to sign Branthwaite from Everton.

PSV currently have four defenders side-lined with injuries and as a result, new manager Peter Bosz wants to bring the youngster back to the Netherlands.

On TwitterElfrink wrote: “PSV has not yet forgotten about a reunion with ‘old acquaintance’ Jarrad Branthwaite of Everton. The club has made another attempt to snatch him from England.”

Branthwaite was in attendance for PSV’s 2-2 draw with Rangers at Ibrox on Tuesday. The defender is thought to be open to returning to the Dutch club on a permanent basis.

Everton won’t let Branthwaite leave cheaply, though, especially so close to the end of the transfer window.

Reports suggest the Toffees will demand at least €15m (approx. £12.8m) for the centre-back, although it’s likely they want much more than that. They will only allow Branthwaite to leave if they have a replacement lined up, too.

In terms of replacement options, Tottenham centre-back Japhet Tanganga has been discussed as one potential option, as well as Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.

With that in mind, Branthwaite is certainly a player for Everton fans to keep an eye on for the remainder of the transfer window.
