Dejan Kulusevski reveals best position as Tottenham new boy names Prem star he models game on
Tottenham new boy Dejan Kulusevski is ready to put his Juventus frustrations behind him after securing a move to the club on an 18-month loan deal.
The attacking midfielder has joined on an initial contract to summer 2023, with an option to buy from the Serie A side. His signing remains subject to international clearance and a work permit, though that is not expected to be a problem.
During the first half of the current season, the 21-year-old has made 27 appearances in all competitions for Juve. Overall he has scored nine goals in 74 games for the Turin outfit.
However, he has never truly established himself a regular under Massimiliano Allegri and he will see the move to London as a fresh start.
Kulusevski has the ability to play across the frontline, off either wing or in a more conventional No 10 role.
Growing up, the player idolised former Manchester United man Adnan Januzaj. In fact, during stints at both Parma and Juve, he wore the No 44 shirt in honour of his hero.
The 21-year-old, who has 20 caps for Sweden, may have to wait a little longer for that shirt at Spurs. Indeed, that is currently worn by academy prospect Dane Scarlett.
Kulusevski looks up to Man City star
And while a huge fan of Januzaj, Kulusevski actually models his game on another Premier League hero in Kevin de Bruyne.
He told Sky Italia, as quoted by The Sun: “I study Kevin De Bruyne a lot because he is a phenomenal player and because I want to become like him.
“It depends on the team, on the game. For how we play in Parma, the coach has found the perfect position for me — as a winger.

“When I was in the Primavera of Atalanta, on the other hand, I played more in the centre because the action had to start from behind.
“My perfect role? Behind the strikers. When I play, I don’t think about goals or assists.
“With the ball, I think always attacking, to the fact that the defenders have to know who they are dealing with. Having said that, I need to improve in shooting more often and also in scoring more.”
Bryan Gil breaks silence on Tottenham exit
With Kulusevski coming in, Tottenham allowed summer signing Bryan Gil to return to Spain with a loan to Valencia.
He has only completed 87 minutes of Premier League football over nine substitute appearances. The wide man is also yet to register a goal contribution for Tottenham.
When asked about the deal, Gil revealed Valencia’s head coach had played a big part in his decision.
“I was looking forward to returning to Spain,” he said (via ESPN).
“I hope to grow as a player and give my best. [I’m aiming] to gain more experience and work a lot.
“One of the reasons why I’ve come here is (Valencia coach Jose) Bordalas’ style of play and how he likes to compete. I think it will help me a lot.
“I’ve come here to give it my all and I’m sure we can achieve big things. It’s a special day for me. I was very eager to come here. I’m very enthusiastic and eager to start.”
