Burnley formulate plan to bounce back with shrewd new managerial appointment linked
Burnley are on the hunt for a new manager since the sacking of Sean Dyche, and former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke is one name on the list.
Dyche enjoyed nearly 10 years at the helm at Turf Moor. The Englishman proved time and time again that he could deal with pressure at Burnley.
After guiding the Clarets to the Premier League on two separate occasions, the 50-year-old was able to keep them there for a decent period. Indeed, Dyche managed to swerve relegation on a number of occasions, finishing in each of 15th, 16th and 17th place.
He also inspired the Clarets to some more successful seasons. The 2017/18 campaign was Dyche’s highest finish with Burnley, as he led them to 7th place, while also finishing 10th in 2019/20.
Despite masterminding Premier League survival for years, and even exceeding expectations in some seasons, Burnley felt the current campaign was the one when a change was needed, and Dyche was sacked.
As such, the Clarets need to appoint a new manager. They still have seven games left to try to avoid the drop, and appointing the right man could help them achieve that.
iNews reports that there is a long line of potential replacements at Burnley. Chris Wilder, Sam Allardyce and Wayne Rooney are the top three candidates in terms of betting odds.
Allardyce has shown time and time again that he has the knack for keeping teams up. However, the report suggests that his wages might be too high for Burnley to pay.
Burnley will be looking to the future, as well as immediate survival. As such, they will want to be careful when choosing who is the right man to lead them next.
Farke is an outside shout for the vacant position. The former Norwich manager, of course, has experience in both the fop flight and the second tier.
Farke could be the man for the job
With Burnley only three points below Everton, who occupy the first safe spot, they could still avoid the drop. However, they will be interested in a manager who, if unable to keep them up, can help them to bounce back.
Given Farke’s track record, he could be a perfect candidate. The German quickly got Norwich up to speed, winning the Championship in his second season at the club.
While they got relegated immediately, he inspired them to another Championship triumph the following season.
Bouncing back to the Premier League is something Farke has shown he can do more than once. Indeed, Burnley should seriously consider the manager – who is out of a job at the moment – for the role.
