Man Utd price Prem suitor out of move for thriving star after Ten Hag makes fresh demand

Crystal Palace look set to miss out on signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka this winter after Manchester United ‘priced them out’ of a deal, according to reports.

The English right-back has been linked with several Premier League clubs recently, as it seemed Erik ten Hag was willing to let him leave the club.

However, the Red Devils have since slapped a hefty price tag on Wan-Bissaka, making a departure increasingly unlikely.

This is according to The Sun, who claim United have increased their asking price after the defender has put in some decent performances recently.

Wan-Bissaka had been dropped from the squad earlier in the season with Ten Hag preferring Diogo Dalot at right-back.

But, an injury to Dalot has paved the way for the Englishman to return to the team, most recently impressing in United’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City.

Wan-Bissaka started alongside Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in defence who managed to largely blunt City’s attack, restricting them to just one shot on target.

It is believed that until this development, the Eagles wanted to bring their former player back to Selhurst Park on a loan deal, but it seems that is now out of the question, as United would only consider a permanent sale.

The report doesn’t name a specific fee, but it’s worth remembering that United paid £50m for Wan-Bissaka back in 2019.

However, it is unlikely that they would expect a fee similar to that, with Transfermarkt now valuing the defender at £18m.

Blow for Crystal Palace as Wan-Bissaka gets second chance at United

This news will come as a big blow to Patrick Vieira who is keen to add quality to his squad this winter.

Palace’s current first-choice right-back, Nathaniel Clyne, has struggled to find consistent form this season and being 31 years old, is not a long-term option.

Therefore, it would have been a smart move to bring Wan-Bissaka back to South London on a temporary basis, but he will now have to look elsewhere if he wants to bolster that area.

Indeed, Wan-Bissaka could potentially play a key role for the rest of the Red Devil’s season.

It’s no secret that Ten Hag would like to sign a new right-back, but if he can prove himself in their next couple of games, the Englishman could potentially become the Dutchman’s first choice once again.

The Eagles are also interested in signing a new centre-forward, with the likes of Aston Villa’s Danny Ings and Middlesbrough forward Chuba Akpom being linked to the club.

This is part of the reason that they won’t consider bidding for Wan-Bissaka, as they want to save funds for attacking reinforcements, which Vieira has made his priority.

It looks likely that Palace will make a couple of new signings before the current window closes, but sealing a move for Wan-Bissaka now seems to be almost impossible.
