Celtic facing big Kyogo Furuhashi problem after worrying Brendan Rodgers reveal

Celtic have been told that Kyogo Furuhashi’s shoulder injury could become a “big” problem for the club next season.

Brendan Rodgers revealed recently that the striker’s shoulder problem “won’t be right” until he has an operation, having had several dislocation issues in the past. Indeed, he often wears a protective brace in games.

The 28-year-old has admitted previously that the issue is not always painful, but Rodgers feels it’s up to the player to get the issue sorted going forward.

And, speaking to Football Insider, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton feels said that if Kyogo needs surgery for his shoulder issue he should have done it at the end of last term.

When asked if Kyogo should opt for the surgery to avoid the problem getting worse, Hutton told Football Insider: “In my opinion yes.

“He has had these issues for a while now, last season it was a problem.

“Me personally if I was in that situation as soon as the last game of last season was done I would have gone and got the surgery.

“Yes you are missing a bit of pre-season but it is your shoulder so as soon as you are feeling not too bad you can then go on the bike, maybe get on the grass. You are then on the road to recovery.

“I think the longer you wait it could get worse, the problem could get bigger and then you are out for longer. What does he do know? Does this plague him for the rest of this season?”

Celtic continue their build-up to the new season with a clash against Premier League side Wolves in Dublin on Saturday. A midweek clash then follows against Spanish side Athletic Bilbao before the season opener against Ross County on Saturday August 5.
