Ange Postecoglou faces transfer headache as Tottenham told to up bid to £40m for Lloris replacement
New Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is facing a major transfer headache after being told that a Premier League rival will not budge from their £40million valuation of a potential replacement for Hugo Lloris.
The Frenchman is expected to quit north London this summer after more than 10 years at Spurs, with hometown side Nice and clubs in Saudi Arabia interested in his signature.
Indeed, the World Cup winner recently told French newspaper Nice-Matin last week that he was “coming to the end of an era” and wanted to leave Tottenham. “I have desires for other things.”
That leaves Postecoglou on the hunt for a new stopper to provide competition for Fraser Forster, who performed well in Lloris’ absence in two spells last term.
And, according to numerous reports, Brentford star David Raya remains at the top of Tottenham’s wanted list.
The 27-year-old has a year left on his contract and is keen to leave, with Spurs said to be heading a list of suitors that also includes Manchester United and Chelsea.
The Bees, however, are refusing to budge from their view that Raya is worth £40m, which is double Tottenham’s valuation.
Indeed, it’s thought that any offer from the north London club in that region will be swiftly knocked back by Brentford, that’s according to inews.

They are, however, open to selling the Spain international, having already signed Netherlands international Mark Flekken.
The stopper joined from German club Freiburg for £11m and shares many of Raya’s attributes, with his ability to play out from the back a key factor to his signing.
Just last week Raya’s agent, Jaume Munell, was reported to have told Brentford they would have to lower their valuation or risk losing the player for nothing when his contract expires.
However, the Bees believe that Raya, capped twice by Spain last year, is already operating at an elite level in England and is the best option on the market for clubs looking to recruit a goalkeeper.
It just remains to be seen whether Tottenham, and Daniel Levy in particular, are willing to move closer to Brentford’s valuation of the player.
